Academic Programs
We implement a child centered educational approach and progressive learning methodologies. With children’s inquiry at the center, we engage our students in learning experiences that inspire curiosity, interest and excitement. When children participate in play-based learning they develop new ways of thinking and commit their knowledge to long term memory. We engage all 5 senses and encourage students to be active participants in all of our learning activities.
Learning activities range from exposure to new and interesting materials to large scale celebrations. For instance, a walking trip to the local hair salon and dog groomers to support our unit on the study of brushes. Using STEM based activities, we incorporate units of study on the lifecycle of butterflies and the use of circumference to determine the age of trees.
Our curriculum integrates the language, culture, and traditions of Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Orthodox religion. Our dedicated Greek language teacher has regular lessons with our 3- and 4-year-old population. Our students attend church once a month and receive Holy Communion. Additionally, they are exposed to many Greek customs and celebrations, such as lighting the Christmas Karavaki in December and celebrating Greek Independence Day in March.

Inviting Classrooms
Our classrooms are carefully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and hands-on exploration. With spacious learning areas dedicated to art, science, literacy, dramatic play, sensory activities, and more, children are encouraged to explore and learn through meaningful experiences. We utilize a multi-sensory approach with current educational materials, manipulatives, and interactive learning tools that support each child’s unique learning style. Small group instruction allows teachers to provide individualized attention while helping children build confidence, independence, and important foundational skills.
Engaging & Meaningful Learning
We believe children are naturally curious learners, and our program is designed to encourage active exploration and joyful discovery. Through play-based learning, hands-on activities, and guided investigation, children are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and engage with the world around them. Our curriculum supports the social, emotional, intellectual, academic, physical, and spiritual growth of every child while fostering creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. We focus on identifying and strengthening each child’s individual abilities while providing support in areas where additional guidance is needed.

A Partnership with Families
At Holy Cross Stars Academy, we believe the best educational experience happens through a strong partnership between school and home. We strive to create a welcoming community where families feel connected and involved in their child’s learning journey. Parents are encouraged to participate in classroom activities, observe learning experiences, and celebrate their child’s accomplishments and discoveries throughout the school year. By working together, we help children develop confidence, meaningful relationships, and a lifelong love of learning in a warm and supportive environment.
